Folio, 294x192 mm, 19th-century crimson velvet over wooden boards with embossed metal center- and cornerpieces on covers, metal catches, lacks clasps, front cover and opening leaves loose; occasional minor marginal soiling and spotting, few small wormholes through blank outer margin of opening leaves, repaired marginal tears in several leaves slightly affecting text. Additional Details

The front cover centerpiece shows the Crucifixion; the cornerpieces portray the four Evangelists and their animal symbols. The rear cover centerpiece depicts Instruments of the Passion (cross, spear, and sponge) on Golgotha above the skull and crossbones of Adam, who was buried there according to legend; the cornerpieces are embellished with bosses surrounded by floral decoration.
